Introduction:
Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to speak at conferences and events around the world, where I delve into the intersection of the human body and technology in artistic creation. In my talks, I explore how merging these elements can lead to innovative artistic expressions, as well as how art can uniquely narrate the passage of time. This section highlights the various presentations I have given, detailing the topics I have covered and the events where I have shared my insights. Below, you will find summaries of my talks and the contexts in which they took place.

Barcelona, 2024.

  • Title: Kosmopolis
    Date & Location: 18th June 2021, CCCB, Barcelona.
    Description: In this performance with the singer Pau Riba and the cyborg artist Neil Harbisson, we initiated a concert as part of the Kosmopolis Literature Festival. During the talk, I took Pau's pulse, which was at 90 bpm at that moment, and the concert started at that tempo, with red lighting as red corresponds to a frequency of 90 hertz. Then, the musicians from Mortimers joined the stage.

  • Title: Mexe
    Date & Location: 19th September 2021, Jardim de São Lázaro, Oporto
    Description: In the garden, Neil Harbisson and I gave a talk about the projects we had been working on and tried to explain how our NFTs work.

  • Title: Chaos
    Date & Location: 2nd October 2021, Paralelní Polis, Prague
    Description: In this talk, we explored biohacking and the intersection between the body and technology, delving into how to create art from this fusion and whether it is ethical or not.

  • Title: Soho House Opening
    Date & Location: 12th October 2021, Soho House, Paris
    Description: This was the first event at Soho House Paris' cinema as part of the opening, where we gave a talk to the audience about the projects developed in the studio. Later, we performed a piece in which I transformed heartbeats into color and sound using a metronome, while Neil translated the colors of people's faces into sound and light as well.

  • Title: Performance for ADE Arts & Culture

    Date & Location: 16th October 2021, Amsterdam
    Description: Neil and I gave a talk alongside various other guests, including Amsterdam's Night Mayor, a tarot reader, and a hypnotist. Our discussion primarily focused on what life is like for those who merge body and technology to create art, exploring the challenges, ethics, and the creative potential of these intersections.

  • Title: Performance of Heartbeats with Neil Harbisson, Moon Ribas and Manel de Aguas
    Date & Location: 16th November 2021, Cyborgbunker, Barcelona.
    Description: In this performance at the Cyborgbunker, I amplified the heartbeats of various audience members through a drum. By taking their pulse, I struck the drum in sync with each heartbeat, while Neil enhanced the sound of the audience’s colors through his antenna. Moon performed her piece Seismic Percussion, representing global earthquakes from the last 50 years using a drum, and Manel gave a concert featuring a repertoire of his latest compositions.

  • Title: Heartbeats Performance
    Date & Location: 2nd December 2021, Qatar Airport
    Description: This performance at the Qatar airport I used the rhythm of heartbeats to craft an immersive audio-visual experience, captivating the audience with synchronized lights. It delved into the concept of shared human experiences and how our natural biological rhythms can be transformed into artistic expression.

  • Title: Performance of Colour and Sound
    Date & Location: 4th December 2021, Malé Maldives.
    Description: At this event, Neil and I gave a talk about his antenna and my digital heart, connecting it to the colors presented by the Asian Paints brand. We identified which Pantone colors best matched the participants from the audience who came on stage as volunteers, incorporating both their facial colors and heart rate frequencies.

  • Title: Performance at Smithsonian Museum of Art and Industries
    Date & Location: 25th March 2022, Washington D.C.
    Description: At the opening of the Futures exhibition, Neil Harbisson and I performed alongside the audience. I measured the pulse of several people in the crowd, while Neil captured the colors of their faces. Using this data, we created a sound experience that was based on both the heart rate frequencies and the color frequencies of the participants' faces.

  • Title: Talk and Performance for Art From Data
    Date & Location: 1st May 2022, Luxemburg
    Description: We gave a talk at an event focused on technology, discussing the integration of art and data. At the end of the event, Neil and I performed a live piece combining color and sound, showcasing how we use technology to translate sensory information into art.

  • Title: Talk for Body & Tech, CECOP
    Date & Location: 29th May 2022, Braga
    Description: I attended this event to give a talk for an optical company, focusing on how we can perceive the world in new ways and experiment with technology within the body. I presented a range of projects that have been developed around the intersection of art, the human body, and technology.

  • Title: Performance Opening "I Am Not A Robot" exposition at Ludwig Museum
    Date & Location: 15th September 2022, Budapest
    Description: Neil and I spent three days at the Ludwig Museum creating a Sonochromatic Piano by electrifying its 88 keys and connecting 12 bulbs, one for each note of the octave, so that the lights corresponding to the colors of the notes would illuminate when played. The performance consisted of sealing the piano, installing all the bulbs, and demonstrating its functionality to inaugurate the exhibition I Am Not a Robot (15/09/2022–27/11/2022). Afterward, the audience was invited to play the piano freely and explore the other artworks.

  • Title: Heartbeats Performance
    Date & Location: 19th September 2022, Riyadh
    Description: This performance utilized the rhythm of heartbeats to create an audio-visual experience, engaging the audience through synchronized lights and sounds. The performance explored the idea of shared human experience and how our biological rhythms can be expressed artistically.

  • Title: Talk in Facultad de Bellas Artes of Sevilla
    Date & Location: 31st March 2023, Sevilla
    Description: A talk was given at the Faculty of Fine Arts, focusing on the concept of the senses. Various types of senses were explored, along with methods to enhance observation and analysis of feelings. This introspection is crucial for drawing inspiration when embarking on projects aimed at integrating body and technology, ultimately fostering the creation of new forms of artistic expression.

  • Title: Performance at Soho House Copenhaguen

    Date & Location: 27th April 2023, Soho House Copenhagen

    Description: For this event at Soho House Copenhagen, I began with a talk on art and technology. Afterwards, I performed a live piece where I recorded my heartbeat in real-time using an electrocardiogram, projecting it onto a screen while I hugged three audience members. With the captured data, I created three unique NFTs on the spot, each titled with the name of the location, along with the exact date and time of their creation.

  • Title: Performance and exposition of a Sonochromatic Piano
    Date & Location: 11th September 2023, Le Cube Garges, Paris
    Description: At Le Cube Garges in Paris, Neil and I created a sonochromatic piano by electrifying its 88 keys and connecting 12 light bulbs, each representing a different note of the octave. The piano was designed so that each key would trigger the corresponding color in light when played. During the performance, we finalized the setup and showcased how sound and color could interact in harmony, marking the opening of the exhibition. After the demonstration, the audience was invited to play and experiment with the piano freely, allowing them to experience the fusion of sound and visual art.

  • Title: Talk and workshop in Facultad de Bellas Artes of Sevilla
    Date & Location: 27th October 2023
    Description: This talk at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Seville focused on how technology can reshape human perception and inspire artistic innovation. Following the presentation, a workshop was held to explore which senses we would want to receive from outer space using the upcoming Andalusian satellite that will soon be launched. Participants brainstormed creative ideas on how to translate data from the satellite into sensory experiences, encouraging new ways of connecting with the universe through art and technology.

  • Title: Talk and Performance at Pinacoteca di San Domenico
    Date & Location: 31st March 2024, Fano, Italy
    Description: For this event, we began with a talk about the intersection of art and technology, setting the context for the sonochromatic piano. The performance took place inside the recently reopened deconsecrated church of San Domenico in Fano. The piano was equipped with 12 bulbs connected to its 88 keys, allowing each note to illuminate a specific color when played. During the performance, we demonstrated this unique interaction between sound and light to celebrate the church’s reopening after years of closure. The audience was then invited to interact with the piano, creating their own melodies and visual compositions within this remarkable space.
